Job OverviewThis is a key leadership position within the Accounting Operations team, reporting to the Assistant Controller. The Accounting Operations team is responsible for preparation and maintenance of accounting records, monthly accounting close activities and accounting variance analysis. Ensuring that our books are closed timely and accurately in compliance with our accounting policies, that accounting estimates are appropriate given the risks and uncertainties involved, and that our accounting records contain the information necessary to meet our reporting requirements to internal management, for tax compliance and TMO/DT reporting requirements. This team also has responsibility for the development, modification and maintenance of internal controls within these accounting processes to ensure the accuracy and objectivity of our financial records including SOX requirements.The Director of Revenue Accounting is responsible for managing multiple teams that account for the financial results from wireless service sales to consumers and wholesale/roaming partners. The Revenue teams are responsible for all financial records from a variety of service billing platforms, including revenues, related expenses and balance sheet reconciliations. Additional responsibilities include reporting of customer activity (activations, churn, etc); management of the financial settlements between roaming partners and bad debt analysis. This position provides critical Accounting leadership on enterprise-wide projects related to new products, services, and billing changes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Accounting and process leadership related to the revenue and subscriber areas.
- Ensure that monthly accounting close deadlines are met consistently and that financial results accurately reflect any changes in operations. Communicate financial results with key internal customer groups
- Ensure that appropriate judgment is applied in developing accounting estimates and accruals
- Maintain accounting practices that are in compliance with established accounting policies, GAAP and IFRS requirements
- Ensure appropriate internal controls are in place and operating effectively in accordance with SOX and industry best practices
- Key leadership role in implementation of new/modified accounting policies to ensure they are efficient and effective for accounting processes and operational/transaction processing. Communicate rationale and impact to affected internal customers.
- Effective partnering with operational teams to understand business, system or process changes that will affect financial results or internal controls. Participate in cross-functional and company-wide initiatives to ensure accounting requirements and financial impacts are identified.
- Hire, coach, train and lead a high caliber and diverse team of professional accountants and accounting management
- Lead efforts to ensure the workplace environment supports a highly
motivated and effective workforce focused on continuous improvement and best practices - Develop department budget and staffing plans and quarterly / annual objectives.
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree Accounting. ()
- More than 10 years Experience in wireless telecommunications or similar industry. (Required)
