Job OverviewThe RF Engineer is responsible for the engineering design and system performance of the T-Mobile Network. Supports coverage, capacity, and performance planning on the T-Mobile network. Participates in development, testing, and validation of RF feature plan proposals. Follows implementation guidelines for approved new features and technologies. Applies engineering principles to design and optimize network coverage, performance, and capacity. May be required to lead a team of engineers on specific projects. Serves as a technical subject matter expert and may be required to do in depth analysis of new features and technologies.This position supports the engineering design and system performance of the T-Mobile Network. Applies engineering principles to support design and optimization of network coverage, performance and capacity. Works on technical assignments that are routine in nature. Normally receives detailed instructions on all work. Works under close supervision.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supports coverage, capacity, and performance planning on the T-Mobile network. Participates in development, testing, and validation of RF feature plan proposals. Follows implementation guidelines for approved new features and technologies.
- Monitors and reviews network key performance indicators (KPI). Diagnoses base transceiver station (BTS) hardware, interference, data throughput, coverage, and transmission path performance issues and develop action plan for resolution. Works closely with other departments to reach satisfactory resolution.
- Effectively utilizes market, regional, and national planning and performance tools (as applicable).
- Provides engineering support to sales / customers by responding to customer and employee complaints. Maintains customer impacting interfaces, impaired service areas, and sales collateral. Provides input to management on tactical issues. Evaluates capacity requirements of radio network and works with other departments to meet growth needs.
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Engineering Technology or an equivalent technical degree. (Required)
- Less than 2 years Experience within the wireless industry troubleshooting, optimizing, and designing wireless communication sites. (Required)
- 2-4 years Experience working in and around the radio frequency industry designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting network issues. (Preferred)
- Less than 2 years Experience with various drive test unit. (Preferred)
- Less than 2 years Experience with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) filings and zoning meetings are preferable. (Preferred)

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.
At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
